The paramilitary Assam Rifles seized heroin valued at ₹1.87 crore during an operation in Mizoram, as reported by Brighter Kashmir.
Assam Rifles, the Indian paramilitary force, announced the seizure of a large quantity of heroin in the northeastern state of Mizoram. The drug haul has been assessed at a street value of approximately ₹1.87 crore.
The operation, carried out by troops stationed in the region, intercepted the narcotics before they could be moved further into the state or beyond. Officials did not disclose the exact weight of the heroin, focusing instead on its monetary worth.
The seizure underscores the growing challenge of drug trafficking in the Northeast, where porous borders and rugged terrain are often exploited by smugglers. Assam Rifles has repeatedly highlighted its role in curbing such illicit activities while also supporting civil authorities.
Authorities are expected to forward the confiscated heroin to the appropriate forensic labs for further analysis, and legal proceedings will be initiated against any individuals linked to the case.
