The Indian Meteorological Department has warned that Assam and Meghalaya will receive additional rainfall as the monsoon intensifies across the Northeast.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a forecast indicating that Assam and Meghalaya are likely to receive increased rainfall as the monsoon deepens across the Northeast.

According to the bulletin, the two states could see 50–70 mm of rain in Assam and 60–80 mm in Meghalaya over the next 48 hours. The forecast covers the entire region, with the heaviest showers expected over the hills and low-lying plains.

The higher rainfall amounts raise concerns about flooding, landslides and disruptions to transport and agriculture. Local authorities have urged residents in vulnerable districts to stay alert and prepare for potential waterlogging.

The IMD has also advised that people check daily weather updates and heed any advisories issued by state disaster management authorities.
