Assam Launches Flood Relief Package for 1.36 Lakh Affected Residents

The Assam government has unveiled a relief package targeting over 1.36 lakh people still affected by recent floods.
The Assam government announced a comprehensive relief package today for more than 1.36 lakh residents who remain affected by the recent floods that swept across the state. The package aims to provide immediate assistance in the form of cash transfers, food grains, and essential medical supplies to households that have lost homes and livelihoods.
Under the scheme, each affected family will receive a cash allotment of ₹5,000, along with a ration pack of rice, pulses, and cooking oil. Additionally, the state will supply free medical kits and arrange for temporary shelters in the most severely impacted districts.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the relief measures were designed to restore basic necessities and help communities rebuild. He urged local authorities to expedite distribution and ensure that aid reaches even the most remote villages.
The government has set up a dedicated helpline and an online portal for beneficiaries to register and track the delivery of relief items. Officials expect the full rollout to be completed within the next 30 days.
