College faculty across Assam have announced a pen‑down strike to be observed today, halting all academic work statewide.
College teachers in Assam have issued a notice that they will commence a pen‑down strike today, affecting institutions throughout the state. The call, circulated among faculty members, urges educators to refrain from any writing or marking activities while remaining on campus premises.
A pen‑down strike differs from a full walk‑out; teachers stay at their posts but suspend all instructional and assessment duties. This form of protest is intended to pressure university and state authorities to address pending grievances without disrupting campus security.
The announced strike is expected to suspend regular classes, examinations and grading processes across Assam's colleges. Educational administrators have been alerted and are monitoring the situation, with officials indicating they will engage with representatives to seek a resolution.
