In a meeting with Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Chouhan, Assam’s chief minister obtained clearance for additional Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana housing units.

Assam's chief minister met Shivraj Chouhan, the chief minister of Madhya Pradesh, to discuss the rollout of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) in the northeastern state.
During the discussion, Chouhan confirmed that the central government would approve the construction of new PMAY homes in Assam, aiming to speed up affordable‑housing delivery for low‑income families.
The clearance is expected to augment existing housing projects and assist the state in meeting its target of providing shelter to millions under the national scheme.
Authorities indicated that funds will be released in phases, with the state coordinating closely with central agencies to ensure timely completion.
The meeting highlights inter‑state collaboration in advancing the central government's housing agenda.
