Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma visited Tinsukia district, inspected ongoing development projects and officially opened a new autoclaved aerated concrete (AAC) block manufacturing unit.
Assam's chief minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, arrived in Tinsukia on Thursday to review a series of infrastructure and industrial projects slated for the district. During the visit he toured ongoing works, including road upgrades and the expansion of local industrial facilities, before proceeding to the inauguration ceremony.
At the ceremony, Sarma formally launched a new autoclaved aerated concrete (AAC) block manufacturing unit. The plant, set up under a public‑private partnership, is expected to supply lightweight building material to the region, reducing reliance on imports and supporting the state's construction sector.
The chief minister highlighted the role of such initiatives in generating employment and boosting Assam's industrial base. He urged local entrepreneurs to leverage the availability of AAC blocks for affordable housing and commercial projects, aligning with the government's broader push for infrastructure development.
The inauguration marks a significant step in the state's effort to modernise construction practices and strengthen supply chains in the northeastern region.
