Assam BJP claims Congress sidelined Lurinjyoti Gogoi at Delhi rally

At a public rally in Delhi, senior members of the Assam unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party raised concerns that the Indian National Congress had effectively sidelined Lurinjyoti Gogoi, a prominent Congress figure from the state. The BJP delegation said Gogoi was denied a speaking slot and was kept away from the main stage, despite his long-standing involvement in Assam politics.

The party framed the incident as evidence of internal discord within the Congress, suggesting that the opposition’s leadership was ignoring key regional leaders ahead of upcoming elections. BJP officials argued that such treatment could alienate Assam’s voter base, where Gogoi enjoys considerable support.

While the Congress has not issued an official response, political analysts note that the accusation may intensify the rivalry between the two parties in the northeastern region, especially as both prepare for the next state assembly polls.
