Sources say the Archaeological Survey of India did not issue any directive to close the Jantar Mantar heritage complex on October 10.
Delhi’s iconic Jantar Mantar remained open on October 10, as officials from the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) confirmed that no closure order was issued for the historic observatory. The clarification comes after media reports suggested a possible shutdown due to ongoing maintenance or security concerns.
Sources familiar with the matter told The Economic Times that the ASI, which manages the site’s preservation, has not released any notice directing a temporary closure. The agency’s routine communications about maintenance activities were misinterpreted as an impending shutdown.
Jantar Mantar, a UNESCO‑listed monument and popular tourist attraction, continues to welcome visitors. The ASI’s statement aims to dispel speculation and reassure the public that the site’s operations are normal.
Authorities have not indicated any change in visitor guidelines, and the monument’s staff remain on duty to ensure safety and preservation of the astronomical instruments.
