Ashok Leyland and the Haryana government have signed an agreement to set up a dedicated driving institute in Ambala, aiming to enhance driver training standards in the state.
Ashok Leyland, one of India's leading commercial vehicle manufacturers, has entered into a partnership with the Haryana state government to establish a dedicated driving institute in Ambala. The collaboration aims to provide structured, industry‑aligned training for aspiring drivers, focusing on safety, vehicle handling, and regulatory compliance.
The institute will be equipped with modern simulators, classroom facilities, and on‑road training modules, leveraging Ashok Leyland's expertise in commercial vehicle operations. Officials said the project will address the shortage of qualified drivers in the region and support the state's broader transport safety initiatives.
The partnership was formalised through a memorandum of understanding signed in early August. Both parties expect the institute to become operational by the end of the year, with enrollment open to candidates from across Haryana and neighboring states.
