Former Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gahlot has publicly rebuked CM Bhajan Lal Sharma’s recent remarks on farmers, saying the statements will be used as a lesson in the upcoming panchayat elections.
Rajasthan is gearing up for its scheduled panchayat elections, and the political discourse has intensified after chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma made a series of statements concerning the state's farming community. The remarks, which highlighted the government's approach to agricultural issues, were quickly picked up by opposition leaders.
Former chief minister Ashok Gahlot responded sharply, accusing Sharma of using farmer‑related rhetoric for electoral gain. Gahlot asserted that the statements would serve as a lesson for the electorate and warned that voters would scrutinise the government's farmer policies closely during the polls.
Analysts note that the exchange underscores the heightened sensitivity of farmer issues in Rajasthan politics, especially as parties vie for rural votes ahead of the local body elections. The controversy is likely to shape campaign narratives in the weeks leading up to the ballot.
