The Arunachal Pradesh students’ association has warned it will mobilise agitation if the government eases the PRC and tribal language requirements for state employment.

The Arunachal Pradesh students’ body issued a notice stating that any relaxation of the Public Recruitment Commission (PRC) criteria and the mandatory tribal language proficiency for state government jobs will trigger organized agitation. The statement, released on Monday, underscores the group's commitment to preserving the linguistic and employment safeguards that have been in place to protect local tribal communities.

According to the notice, the student organization views the PRC and language provisions as essential tools for ensuring that state positions are filled by candidates familiar with the region's cultural and linguistic context. Diluting these rules, the body argues, could marginalise tribal applicants and undermine the state's affirmative‑action policies.

The association called on its members and allied groups to prepare for peaceful protests, rallies and other forms of civil action should the government move forward with any policy changes. No official response from the state administration has been reported at the time of writing.
