The state government of Arunachal Pradesh has appealed to the Indian Council of Agricultural Research for greater assistance in implementing its agriculture development plan and expanding kiwi fruit research.

The administration of Arunachal Pradesh has formally requested the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) to intensify its involvement in the state's agricultural agenda. The appeal focuses on two key areas: the execution of a comprehensive agriculture roadmap and the advancement of research on kiwi cultivation, a crop the state is keen to promote.

State officials say that stronger ICAR backing will provide the technical expertise, seed quality, and extension services needed to modernise farming practices across the hilly terrain. They also highlight that kiwi, being a high‑value fruit, could open new market opportunities for local growers if research and development are accelerated.

The request comes as part of Arunachal's broader effort to diversify its agrarian economy and reduce reliance on traditional staples. While details of the proposed partnership remain under discussion, the state hopes that a reinforced collaboration with ICAR will translate into concrete field interventions within the next agricultural season.
