The Arunachal Pradesh cricket side will begin its Ranji Trophy campaign in the second round after forfeiting its opening fixture.
Arunachal Pradesh’s team entered the 2024‑25 Ranji Trophy schedule without playing the first round, having officially forfeited the opening match. The decision was recorded by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), which confirmed that the team will now commence its campaign from the second round of the tournament.
The forfeiture means the side will start its campaign against its next scheduled opponent in Round 2, with points from the missed fixture automatically awarded to the opposition. This development reduces the number of matches Arunachal Pradesh can play this season, potentially affecting player exposure and the state’s overall standing in the competition.
Cricket officials noted that the forfeiture follows standard BCCI protocol for teams unable to field a side, and they emphasized that the remaining fixtures will proceed as planned. Arunachal Pradesh’s cricket association has expressed its intent to field a full squad for the upcoming matches, aiming to make a competitive impact despite the early setback.
