Chief Minister Pema Khandu inaugurated the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign, a state‑wide cleanliness initiative, in Arunachal Pradesh.

The chief minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Pema Khandu, officially launched the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign in a public ceremony, marking the start of a coordinated cleanliness drive across the state. The event highlighted the government's commitment to improving sanitation and public hygiene.

Swachhata Hi Seva is positioned as a state‑level extension of the national Swachh Bharat mission, aiming to mobilise citizens, local bodies and government departments in regular cleaning activities. Officials said the programme will focus on waste segregation, removal of solid waste from streets and public spaces, and the creation of awareness about hygienic practices.

The launch included a demonstration clean‑up in the vicinity of the venue, with volunteers from schools, NGOs and community groups participating. Authorities plan to replicate similar drives in towns and villages, supported by dedicated funding and monitoring mechanisms.

State officials indicated that the campaign will be monitored through a digital dashboard, allowing real‑time tracking of cleanliness metrics. The initiative is expected to enhance the overall quality of life and promote a culture of civic responsibility among residents.
