A forum from Arunachal Pradesh has protested that State Bank of India's software prevents Christians from selecting the Scheduled Tribe category. The forum calls the block discriminatory and demands immediate correction.
The Arunachal forum raised concerns after noticing that the State Bank of India's online software does not allow users who identify as Christians to select the Scheduled Tribe option while filling forms.
Forum representatives said the restriction appears to target a specific religious community and prevents them from availing benefits meant for Scheduled Tribe candidates.
They have urged the bank to review and amend the software so that the ST option is accessible to all eligible applicants irrespective of religion.
