Chief Minister Pema Khandu said the Swachh Bharat Mission launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has transformed into a movement driven by ordinary citizens, especially in Arunachal Pradesh.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu of Arunachal Pradesh remarked that the cleanliness drive initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2014 has matured into a broad-based people's movement. He highlighted that citizens across the state are now actively participating in cleaning drives, waste segregation and awareness programmes.
Khandu noted that the shift from a government‑led campaign to a community‑driven effort reflects growing public ownership of hygiene and sanitation goals. Local bodies, schools and NGOs have joined hands, turning streets and public spaces cleaner.
The chief minister said the state will continue to support the initiative by providing resources and encouraging grassroots participation, reinforcing the central government's vision of a cleaner India.
