ARRI has unveiled Film Lab 1.5, adding support for 8mm to 65mm film formats, anamorphic grain, halation, and full ACES 2.0 compatibility.
ARRI has released a new version of its Film Lab software, Film Lab 1.5, aimed at professional film laboratories and post‑production houses. The update expands the range of supported film formats, covering 8mm to 65mm gauges, and introduces advanced visual features such as anamorphic grain simulation and halation effects. Additionally, Film Lab 1.5 now offers full compatibility with the ACES 2.0 color management system, allowing studios to integrate the software into modern color workflows.
The company highlighted that the new features will streamline the digitisation and grading process for a wider variety of film stocks, giving technicians more creative control over the final image. Users can now import, process, and export footage with greater fidelity to the original film characteristics.
ARRI’s announcement comes as the film industry continues to balance traditional analog aesthetics with digital post‑production demands. The updated software is expected to be available for purchase and download shortly after the release announcement.
