Archaeologists Unearth Clues to Tamil Nadu's Lost Ancient City

Archaeologists working in the coastal districts of Tamil Nadu have discovered a series of stone structures and pottery fragments that suggest the site of an ancient city once submerged by rising sea levels. The team, led by the state's Department of Archaeology, used ground‑penetrating radar and underwater surveys to identify the remains. The findings provide a clearer picture of the city's layout and its possible trade connections with other South Indian ports. Experts believe the discoveries could reshape understanding of regional maritime history. Further excavations are planned for the coming months to map the extent of the submerged settlement.
