Aradhana Misra, daughter of Congress MP Pramod Tiwari, has been appointed as the new chief of the Uttar Pradesh Congress. She will lead negotiations with the Samajwadi Party for seat-sharing ahead of the state's assembly elections.
In a recent party meeting, the Congress leadership announced that Aradhana Misra will take over as the chief of the Uttar Pradesh unit, a move aimed at revitalising the party’s presence in the state. Misra, the daughter of senior MP Pramod Tiwari, brings a fresh face to the party’s top leadership after a series of grassroots campaigns in the region. Her appointment comes as the Congress seeks to strengthen its electoral strategy ahead of the 2024 Uttar Pradesh assembly elections. The new chief will spearhead talks with the Samajwadi Party, led by Mulayam Singh Yadav’s son, to negotiate a seat‑sharing arrangement that could consolidate anti‑BJP votes.
