Apple production in Himachal Pradesh has fallen by 48% so far in 2024, according to dailyexcelsior.com.
Apple growers in Himachal Pradesh are facing a sharp decline in output, with the state’s production down 48% in the first months of 2024, the dailyexcelsior.com report said. The figure reflects the cumulative harvest from the region’s orchards up to the present date.
Himachal, one of India’s leading apple‑producing states, relies heavily on the fruit for its agricultural income. A contraction of this magnitude could affect farmer earnings and downstream supply chains, though the report did not provide specific reasons for the drop.
State officials and horticulture experts are expected to analyse the data and advise growers on mitigation measures, but no official comment was available at the time of reporting.
