The Andhra Pradesh High Court invalidated two government orders that set a 34% reservation for Backward Classes, prompting the BCY chief to question the quota.

The Andhra Pradesh High Court has struck down two government orders that had established a 34% reservation for Backward Classes in the state.

The orders, issued by the state government, were intended to broaden access to education and public employment for historically disadvantaged communities. The court found that the orders violated the Constitution or were not in line with existing reservation laws.

Following the ruling, the chief of the Bharatiya Janata Yuvajana Samiti (BCY) expressed doubts about the 34% quota, questioning its implementation and impact.

The decision is expected to prompt a review of the state's reservation policy and may lead to further legal challenges.
