Andhra Pradesh has cleared the bidding process for a new 1,600‑megawatt coal‑fired power plant, a move aimed at meeting the state’s rising electricity needs. The approval, announced by the state energy department, follows months of deliberations on expanding the power generation capacity.
The project, slated to be commissioned in the next few years, is expected to add significant capacity to the state’s grid, reducing the frequency of load shedding in major districts.
