Andhra University students protest over poor infrastructure, VC promises phased repairs

Students at Andhra University staged a protest demanding improvements to dilapidated campus facilities, while the vice‑chancellor pledged a phased renovation plan.
Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh – A group of students at Andhra University gathered on campus to highlight the deteriorating condition of classrooms, laboratories and hostels. The demonstrators carried placards and voiced concerns that the substandard infrastructure hampers academic activities and student well‑being.
University officials responded by acknowledging the grievances. Vice‑chancellor Prof. G. Nageswara Rao assured that the administration has already drafted a phased repair schedule, prioritising critical areas such as water supply, electricity and structural safety.
The VC added that funding allocations have been secured from the state government and the university's own budget, and that regular progress updates will be communicated to the student body. The protest ended without any reported clashes, and the university has scheduled a meeting with student representatives to monitor the implementation of the repair plan.
