Andhra Pradesh’s Quantum Valley, ports and space assets boost defence push, says Satheesh Reddy

DRDO chief Satish Reddy told reporters that the combination of the Quantum Valley technology hub, the state’s extensive coastal ports and the proximity of space research installations positions Andhra Pradesh as a key player in India’s defence manufacturing drive. He noted that the Quantum Valley initiative, aimed at fostering advanced electronics and quantum technologies, complements the logistical strengths offered by ports such as Visakhapatnam and Kakinada. The presence of ISRO’s launch and testing facilities in the region further enhances the state’s capability to develop and integrate cutting‑edge defence systems. Reddy emphasized that leveraging these assets can accelerate indigenous production, reduce reliance on imports and create high‑skill jobs. The remarks underscore the government’s broader strategy to build a defence ecosystem that links research, production and export infrastructure within a single state.
