A wildlife panel has directed Andhra Pradesh officials to increase the number of tiger base camps from the current count to 125 within 30 days, aiming to improve tiger conservation efforts.
A panel of wildlife experts met with Andhra Pradesh officials and issued a directive to raise the number of tiger base camps to 125 within a 30‑day period.
The directive follows concerns that the current number of camps is insufficient for the state’s tiger population and that expanding coverage will enhance monitoring and anti‑poaching measures.
Officials were instructed to identify suitable sites, secure necessary permits, and mobilise resources so that the target can be met by the end of the month.
The state government has pledged to cooperate and will report progress to the panel on a weekly basis.
