The Andhra Pradesh government announced the creation of four new police commissionerates to strengthen law‑enforcement across the state.
The state cabinet approved the formation of four additional police commissionerates, officials said, as part of a broader effort to improve policing efficiency and response times in rapidly urbanising districts.
The new commissionerates will be headquartered in selected districts, each headed by a commissioner of police holding the rank of Additional Director General of Police, according to the government order.
The move is expected to bring more resources, modern equipment and better coordination with local administration, aiming to curb crime and enhance public safety.
The government will allocate funds for infrastructure, recruitment and training, and the commissionerates are slated to become operational by the end of the fiscal year.
