The Andhra Pradesh government announced plans to support and expand spoken‑Telugu associations, aiming to preserve and promote the language’s oral traditions.

The state government of Andhra Pradesh issued a formal notice today outlining a new initiative to strengthen spoken‑Telugu associations throughout the region. Under the scheme, existing cultural groups will receive financial grants, logistical assistance and access to public venues for regular meetings and workshops.
The programme also encourages the formation of new associations in districts where oral Telugu traditions are under‑represented. State officials said the move is intended to nurture the language’s living heritage, especially among younger generations who are increasingly shifting to digital media.
Implementation will be overseen by the Department of Culture in collaboration with the Telugu Academy. The first round of funding is slated to be disbursed within the next two months, with periodic reviews to assess impact on community participation and language preservation.
By institutionalising support for spoken‑Telugu groups, the government hopes to create a sustainable network that can document, teach and celebrate the state’s linguistic diversity.
