The Andhra Pradesh government has clinched a Rs 1,614 crore investment from three Hyundai and Kia component suppliers, surpassing a competing bid from Tamil Nadu.
Andhra Pradesh has emerged as the preferred destination for a Rs 1,614 crore investment announced by three component suppliers serving Hyundai and Kia. The state’s industrial promotion agency confirmed that the funds will be channelled into setting up new manufacturing facilities and expanding existing ones, aimed at strengthening the regional automotive supply chain.
The investment proposal was evaluated alongside a competing offer from Tamil Nadu, but Andhra Pradesh’s incentives, land‑allocation framework and logistics advantages tipped the balance in its favour. Officials said the project is expected to generate several thousand jobs and boost ancillary production for the two Korean carmakers.
State officials highlighted that the inflow aligns with Andhra Pradesh’s broader strategy to position itself as a hub for automotive manufacturing in South India. The suppliers have not disclosed detailed timelines, but the agreement is slated for signing later this month, after which construction and equipment procurement will commence.
