The Andhra Pradesh government has announced a potential investment of up to ₹9 lakh crore to develop the Visakhapatnam Economic Region, aiming to boost industrial growth and infrastructure.

The state government has unveiled plans to channel up to ₹9 lakh crore into the Visakhapatnam Economic Region (VER). The investment is intended to transform the area into a major industrial and logistics hub, leveraging the region’s strategic location and port facilities.

Key sectors targeted include manufacturing, logistics, and technology parks, with an emphasis on creating employment opportunities and attracting private investors. The proposal also outlines infrastructure upgrades such as road connectivity, power supply, and water management.

Officials said the funding will be mobilised through a mix of state funds, central assistance, and public‑private partnerships. The project is expected to accelerate the region’s economic growth and position Visakhapatnam as a key node in India’s industrial corridor.

The announcement follows a series of development initiatives aimed at boosting the state’s economy and is part of a broader strategy to attract investment across Andhra Pradesh.
