The Andhra Pradesh government has begun a field trial of Danish fibre‑reinforced road material aimed at reducing the state’s chronic pothole problem.
The transport department of Andhra Pradesh announced the launch of a pilot project that uses a Danish‑origin fibre‑reinforced asphalt mix on selected road sections. The new material incorporates synthetic fibres into the bitumen binder, a technique that European engineers claim can improve crack resistance and extend pavement life.
Officials said the trial will be monitored for performance indicators such as surface durability, maintenance frequency and cost‑effectiveness compared with conventional asphalt. If the results meet expectations, the state plans to evaluate a broader rollout across its highway network.
