Junior doctors in Andhra Pradesh have called off their 16‑day strike and will resume duties from August 26, ending the prolonged disruption in hospitals.
Junior doctors across Andhra Pradesh announced the termination of a 16‑day strike, confirming that they will report back to their respective hospitals on August 26. The decision brings an end to one of the longest medical protests in the state this year.
The strike had left several government and private hospitals operating with reduced staff, affecting routine outpatient services and elective procedures. Patients reported longer waiting times and, in some cases, referrals to nearby facilities.
State health officials welcomed the doctors' return, stating that the administration will coordinate with hospital management to ensure a smooth resumption of services and address any pending grievances.
The health department also urged the medical community to engage in dialogue with authorities to prevent future disruptions and maintain uninterrupted patient care.
The move is expected to restore normalcy in the state's healthcare delivery as the new academic session for junior doctors begins later this month.
