The Andhra Pradesh government has issued an interim fee schedule for private medical and dental institutions, outlining tuition rates for the upcoming academic session.
The state government of Andhra Pradesh released an interim fee structure governing private medical and dental colleges across the state. The notification, issued by the Department of Health, Education and Human Resources Development, sets tuition caps for undergraduate courses for the next academic year, aiming to bring greater transparency and affordability.
Under the new framework, private institutions will be required to adhere to the prescribed fee limits while retaining the right to charge additional amounts for laboratory, library and other ancillary services, subject to regulatory approval. The government has also mandated that colleges publish the fee details on their websites and display them prominently on campus.
The move comes amid growing concerns from students and parents about rising education costs in professional courses. Officials said the interim schedule will remain in effect until a permanent fee policy is finalized after stakeholder consultations.
The notification applies to all private medical and dental colleges recognised by the Medical Council of India and the Dental Council of India within Andhra Pradesh. Institutions that fail to comply may face penalties, including withdrawal of recognition.
Stakeholders have been urged to submit feedback on the interim structure within a stipulated period, after which the government will consider revisions before issuing a final fee regime.
