The Andhra Pradesh chief minister expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi after the central government approved new railway tracks linking Guntakal with Ballari, a move expected to boost regional connectivity.

The central government has officially sanctioned a new railway corridor that will connect Guntakal in Andhra Pradesh to Ballari in Karnataka. The decision follows months of coordination between state and national authorities, with the aim of improving freight and passenger movement across the region.

Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy highlighted the project’s potential to reduce travel time, stimulate local economies, and create employment opportunities. He noted that the new line would link key industrial hubs and agricultural markets, facilitating smoother supply chains.

The Ministry of Railways cited the corridor’s strategic importance for national connectivity and its alignment with broader railway expansion plans. Officials said the project will be executed in phases, with construction expected to commence in 2025.

While detailed cost estimates and timelines are still being finalized, the approval marks a significant step toward enhancing infrastructure in southern India.
