Andhra Pradesh has adopted the Dharavi model for slum redevelopment. The state aims to revamp its slum areas using this approach.
Andhra Pradesh has taken a significant step towards slum redevelopment by adopting the Dharavi model. This approach has been successfully implemented in Mumbai's Dharavi area, one of the largest slums in Asia. The state government aims to replicate this model in its own slum areas, providing better living conditions for the residents. The Dharavi model focuses on in-situ redevelopment, where the existing slum dwellers are relocated to temporary accommodations and their original land is used for redevelopment. Once the redevelopment is complete, the original residents are given new homes in the same area.
