Punjab police in Amritsar’s Kambo area recovered over 10 kilograms of heroin and detained two alleged traffickers who had entered the country from across the border.
Amritsar’s Kambo police station launched a raid in the Attari locality early Tuesday, targeting a suspected drug‑smuggling operation. Officers seized a large haul of heroin weighing 10 kilograms and 24 grams, marking one of the biggest drug busts in the region this year.
The narcotics were reported to have been trafficked across the India‑Pakistan border, underscoring the persistent challenge of cross‑border drug flow in Punjab. Investigators said the seized heroin was packaged for distribution in major urban centers.
During the operation, two individuals identified as the delivery agents were apprehended. Both are being held for further interrogation, and the case has been handed over to the district crime branch for prosecution. Police have not disclosed the suspects' names pending formal charges.
