Amritsar Police Arrest Two Over Offensive Slogans Near Railway Station

Amritsar police traced and detained two suspects within five hours for writing objectionable slogans at public spots near the railway station, Bhandari bridge and Hall Gate, allegedly motivated by plans to travel abroad.
Amritsar police launched an investigation after reports of offensive slogans appearing at several public locations in the city. Within four to five hours, officers identified and arrested two individuals suspected of the vandalism.
The slogans were found near the Amritsar railway station, on the Bhandari bridge and close to the Hall Gate area, all high‑traffic spots frequented by commuters and travelers.
According to the police, the arrested persons allegedly wrote the messages with the intention of earning money to fund an overseas trip. The motive, as stated by investigators, was to exploit the publicity generated by the incident for personal gain.
Both suspects are now in police custody and will face charges related to defacing public property and creating communal disharmony, as per the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
