The government has approved a new Amrit Bharat Express connecting Bhuj and Barwani through Muzaffarpur, with a thrice‑weekly schedule and a top speed of 130 km/h.
The Ministry of Railways has given the green light to launch a new Amrit Bharat Express that will traverse the route between Bhuj in Gujarat and Barwani in Madhya Pradesh via Muzaffarpur, Bihar. The service is slated to operate three days a week in each direction, providing a faster link for passengers traveling across these regions.
Designed as a premium express, the train will run at a maximum permissible speed of 130 kilometres per hour, significantly reducing travel time compared with existing services on the corridor. The schedule aims to cater to both business and leisure travelers seeking a more efficient rail option.
Railway officials indicated that the introduction of this service is part of a broader push to enhance connectivity in under‑served parts of the country, especially in the eastern and central zones. The new train is expected to boost passenger traffic and stimulate economic activity along its route.
Construction of necessary infrastructure, including track upgrades and station enhancements at Muzaffarpur, is already underway to meet the speed and safety standards required for the Amrit Bharat brand. The inaugural run is anticipated later this year, pending final safety clearances.
Stakeholders, including local business groups and tourism boards, have welcomed the development, citing potential benefits for regional trade, tourism, and employment opportunities.
