Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced a ₹101 crore grant for gaushalas and laid the foundation stone of a ₹255 crore dairy processing plant in Madhya Pradesh.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited Madhya Pradesh to unveil two major initiatives aimed at strengthening the state’s dairy sector. During the event, he announced a direct allocation of ₹101 crore to gaushalas across the state, intended to improve cow welfare, feed, and infrastructure.

Shah also laid the foundation stone for a new dairy processing complex valued at ₹255 crore. The plant, to be built under a state‑run scheme, will enhance milk collection, processing capacity and is expected to generate substantial employment opportunities for the local population.

Both projects will be implemented in coordination with the Madhya Pradesh government, with funds to be released through existing welfare channels. Officials said the initiatives align with the central government’s broader push to boost agricultural productivity and rural incomes.

The ceremony, which lasted about two hours, was attended by senior state officials and representatives of the dairy industry, who welcomed the financial support and the prospect of modernised processing facilities.

The announcements come as part of a larger effort to revitalize India’s dairy ecosystem, positioning Madhya Pradesh as a key hub for milk production and value‑added dairy products.
