Union Home Minister Amit Shah unveiled a direct‑benefit‑transfer scheme worth Rs 632 crore aimed at empowering women in Chhattisgarh.

New Delhi – Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced a direct‑benefit‑transfer (DBT) package of Rs 632 crore dedicated to women in Chhattisgarh. The scheme, part of the central government's push to enhance financial inclusion, will be disbursed directly into beneficiaries' bank accounts, reducing leakages and ensuring timely support.

The announcement was made during a press conference in New Delhi, where Shah highlighted the government's commitment to gender‑focused welfare. He said the funds will be used for health, nutrition, education and livelihood initiatives that directly impact women and their families.

State officials in Raipur are expected to coordinate with local banks and women’s self‑help groups to identify eligible recipients. The rollout is slated to begin next month, with monitoring mechanisms to track utilization and impact.

Analysts view the move as a significant step toward bridging gender gaps in financial access, especially in tribal‑dominant districts of Chhattisgarh where women often face economic marginalisation.
