A review of air‑quality data shows that every city in Haryana has recorded PM10 concentrations above the permissible annual limit each year since 2019, according to the Times of India.

The Times of India has highlighted a persistent breach of the national ambient air quality standard for particulate matter (PM10) across all cities in Haryana. Official monitoring records indicate that the annual average concentration of PM10 has exceeded the permissible limit of 60 micrograms per cubic metre every year from 2019 through 2023.

The data, compiled from continuous monitoring stations operated by the Haryana State Pollution Control Board, shows no city meeting the threshold in any of the five years examined. Seasonal spikes during winter months, when temperature inversions trap pollutants, contributed to the highest exceedances.

Health experts warn that prolonged exposure to elevated PM10 levels can aggravate respiratory ailments, increase cardiovascular risk, and reduce overall life expectancy. The central and state governments have previously pledged to strengthen emission controls, expand green cover, and promote cleaner fuels, but the latest figures suggest that implementation remains uneven.

Authorities are expected to present a detailed action plan in the upcoming state assembly session, focusing on stricter enforcement of industrial emission norms and accelerated deployment of air‑quality monitoring infrastructure.
