Gogawa police in Madhya Pradesh arrested an Aligarh resident carrying ten illegal domestically‑made pistols valued at about ₹1.5 lakh, and are probing a wider smuggling network.
Gogawa police in Madhya Pradesh detained a young man from Aligarh after a routine check uncovered ten illegally manufactured pistols hidden in his bag. The firearms, identified as domestic copies, are estimated to be worth roughly ₹1.5 lakh in total.
During interrogation, the suspect disclosed that he had traveled to Siganur to purchase the weapons, indicating a possible link to an inter‑state smuggling route. Authorities have seized the pistols as evidence and have launched a broader investigation into the network that facilitated the illegal trade.
The police have not disclosed the suspect's name or age, but confirmed that the case is being treated as a serious violation of the Arms Act. Further inquiries will focus on identifying other participants in the supply chain and preventing similar contraband from entering the state.
The incident underscores ongoing concerns about illegal firearms trafficking across state borders, prompting law‑enforcement agencies to tighten surveillance and coordinate with neighboring jurisdictions.
The investigation remains active, and additional arrests may follow as the probe uncovers more details about the smuggling operation.
