Heavy rains in Uttarakhand’s Rudraprayag pushed the Alaknanda and Mandakini rivers beyond warning thresholds, prompting authorities to issue a high‑alert warning.

Heavy rainfall over the past 48 hours has caused the Alaknanda and Mandakini rivers in Rudraprayag to rise sharply, crossing the warning level set by the Uttarakhand State Disaster Management Authority.

The Uttarakhand government has declared a high‑alert status for the region, urging residents to stay away from riverbanks and to heed evacuation orders where necessary.

Local police and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have been deployed to monitor the rivers and to assist in any potential rescue operations.

Officials have warned that further rainfall could exacerbate the situation, and they are monitoring the river levels closely for any sudden changes.
