Speaking in Bhojpur, Raisen, the central agriculture minister said the Ladli Bahna scheme will be expanded, promising to increase the current Rs 1,500 assistance to Rs 3,000 to boost women's economic power.
New Delhi – Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan visited Bhojpur in Raisen, Madhya Pradesh, where he highlighted the importance of the Ladli Bahna scheme for women's financial empowerment. He emphasized that such targeted programmes are essential to strengthen the economic standing of women across the country.
Chauhan announced that the government will gradually raise the cash assistance under the scheme from the existing Rs 1,500 to Rs 3,000 per beneficiary. The increase is intended to provide a more substantial safety net and encourage greater participation of women in income‑generating activities.
The minister urged state governments to replicate similar initiatives and assured that the central government will continue to support schemes that uplift women’s livelihoods. No specific timeline was given, but the promise signals a policy shift toward higher direct cash transfers for female beneficiaries.
