Aerocity residents in Mohali handed over bags of waste to municipal corporation officials as an unusual Diwali present, highlighting concerns over city cleanliness.
On the eve of Diwali, a group of residents from Aerocity, a planned township in Mohali, arrived at the municipal corporation office carrying several bags filled with household waste. The residents presented the garbage to senior officials as a symbolic gift, aiming to underscore the need for better waste‑management practices in the city.
Municipal officials accepted the unconventional offering and thanked the citizens for drawing attention to the cleanliness challenge that intensifies during the festive season. The gesture was intended to prompt the corporation to step up collection services and public awareness campaigns ahead of the holiday rush.
Local observers noted that the event, while unusual, reflects growing civic engagement among residents who are increasingly willing to use creative methods to voice concerns about urban hygiene.
