The upcoming Westeros prequel film 'Aegon's Conquest' will hit theatres, pushing back the previously planned 2029 release of the first Westeros prequel.
HBO’s first Westeros‑set prequel, titled "Aegon's Conquest," has been confirmed for a theatrical launch. The announcement indicates that the film will open in cinemas ahead of the broader prequel slate.
Industry sources note that the scheduled 2029 release window for the initial Westeros prequel has been displaced to accommodate the new title. No specific new date has been disclosed, but the shift underscores the studio’s strategy to stagger its high‑profile fantasy releases.
The move is expected to affect marketing timelines and distribution plans for the broader Game of Thrones franchise, as fans anticipate a staggered rollout of related projects over the coming years.
