Renewable‑energy firm ACME Solar has put into operation a 17.91 MW battery energy storage system (BESS) for the FDRE project in Rajasthan.

ACME Solar announced the commissioning of a 17.91‑megawatt battery energy storage system (BESS) as part of the FDRE renewable‑energy project in Rajasthan. The installation is expected to enhance grid stability and enable better integration of solar power generated in the region.

The BESS, supplied and installed by ACME Solar, will store excess solar generation during peak daylight hours and release it during periods of high demand or low solar output. This capability aims to reduce reliance on conventional fossil‑fuel peaking plants and support India’s clean‑energy targets.

Stakeholders from the state electricity board and ACME Solar’s senior management attended the commissioning ceremony, highlighting the collaborative effort to expand Rajasthan’s renewable‑energy infrastructure. The project aligns with the national push for larger-scale storage solutions to address intermittency challenges.

Industry analysts view the 17.91 MW capacity as a significant step for Rajasthan, a state that has been rapidly expanding its solar capacity. The BESS is expected to improve the overall efficiency of the FDRE project and serve as a model for future storage deployments across the country.
