The ABVP secured victories in student union elections across seven universities in Odisha, while the BJD‑aligned BCJD captured four seats, marking the first such polls after an eight‑year hiatus.
Student union elections were held across Odisha after an eight‑year gap, and the ABVP emerged victorious in seven university campuses. The BJD‑affiliated student wing, BCJD, won four seats, indicating a strong presence of the state ruling party’s youth cadre on campuses.
The results reflect a competitive landscape where national student organisations and regional political outfits vie for influence among the student electorate. ABVP’s sweep in the majority of institutions underscores its organisational reach, while BCJD’s gains demonstrate the BJD’s continued relevance in student politics.
Analysts note that the outcomes could shape campus debates and alignments ahead of upcoming state and national elections, as both groups are likely to leverage their student leadership positions for broader political mobilisation.
