Student organization ABVP staged protests across India, accusing the Congress party of eroding democratic norms.
The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) announced a series of protests in several Indian cities, describing the demonstrations as a response to what it perceives as a threat to democratic processes. Organisers said the rallies would be held simultaneously nationwide to highlight their concerns.
ABVP leaders asserted that the Indian National Congress is actively undermining democratic institutions, citing recent political moves that they claim weaken checks and balances. The group urged citizens to join the protests to defend constitutional values.
As of now, the Congress party has not issued an official statement on the accusations, and law‑enforcement agencies are monitoring the gatherings to ensure public order.
