Actor Abhishek Jain spoke about the difficult decision to trim 80 minutes of footage from the film 'Maaran', describing it as a painful process that felt like breaking his own heart into pieces.

In a candid interview with ETV Bharat, actor Abhishek Jain discussed the extensive editing that took place in the Tamil film "Maaran". The director and producer had to remove roughly 80 minutes of content before the film’s release, a move that Jain described as emotionally draining.

Jain said that the decision to cut the footage was not taken lightly. "It felt like breaking my own heart into eighty pieces," he said, emphasizing the personal impact the edits had on him and the team.

The film, which stars Vijay and was directed by Vetrimaaran, was initially slated to run longer. However, test screenings and pacing concerns prompted the producers to trim the runtime to improve audience engagement.

Jain added that while the cuts were necessary for the film’s overall quality, they also meant that many scenes and subplots were left out of the final cut. He expressed gratitude for the creative team’s willingness to make tough choices for the sake of the story.

The interview highlights the often unseen challenges filmmakers face in balancing artistic vision with commercial viability, a reality that many Indian cinema professionals grapple with.
