The Abdullah political family has publicly urged the central government to grant statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, saying it would revive their historic legacy, and has also advocated the use of the Public Safety Act to address law‑and‑order concerns.

The Abdullah family, a prominent political lineage in Jammu and Kashmir, announced its demand that the region be granted full statehood, arguing that such a move would restore the legacy of the erstwhile princely state.

In the same statement, the family called for the enforcement of the Public Safety Act (PSA) as a mechanism to maintain law and order, citing recent security challenges in the valley.

The demand arrives amid continuing debates over Jammu and Kashmir's constitutional status following the 2019 abrogation of Article 370, and the family says the combined approach addresses both political aspirations and security concerns.

No official response from the centre has been recorded as of now.
